Complete in Christ: Living from the Reality of the New Creation

June 10,2026

"And ye are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power." — Colossians 2:10

One of the most profound truths revealed in Scripture is that every believer is complete in Christ. This completeness is not the result of human effort, self-improvement, religious activities, or the addition of something that was lacking in us. Rather, it is the finished work of God accomplished through Christ Jesus.

When we were united with Christ through faith, we did not carry fragments of the old life into the new. The old man was crucified with Christ, and a completely new creation emerged. As the Scripture declares:

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." — 2 Corinthians 5:17

Our new life in Christ is not a renovated version of the old Adamic life; it is an entirely new creation birthed by God. Everything pertaining to this new life was prepared by God Himself. We contributed nothing to its design or formation. We simply received by grace what Christ accomplished on our behalf.

The challenge many believers face is that they continue to view themselves through the lens of the old life rather than through the finished work of Christ. Though they have been made new, they still identify with the limitations, fears, struggles, and self-righteous efforts of the old nature.

Many have not devoted themselves to studying the realities of their new life in Christ. They have not fully embraced the truth that the victorious life Christ purchased can be experienced here and now. Instead, they remain occupied with the consciousness of Adam rather than the consciousness of Christ.

As a result, their prayers and expectations often flow from a mindset of lack, insecurity, and self-preservation rather than from the abundance and security found in Christ. The believer who understands his position in Christ realizes that his inheritance is already secured in heaven.

Jesus declared:

"Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal." — Matthew 6:19

The treasures of the new creation are not vulnerable to demonic theft or corruption. Our spiritual inheritance is preserved in Christ. Peter describes it as:

"An inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you." — 1 Peter 1:4

Believers must therefore learn to live from the reality of their union with Christ. We are seated with Him in heavenly places far above principalities, powers, and every work of darkness (Ephesians 2:6; Ephesians 1:20-22). The powers of darkness cannot overcome the One who is their Head, and because we are in Him, we share in His victory.

The call of the believer is not to strive for completeness but to walk in the completeness already provided in Christ. We are not fighting for victory; we are enforcing the victory Christ has already won. We are not trying to become accepted by God; we are accepted in the Beloved.

Therefore, let us set our affection on things above, where Christ sits at the right hand of God, and learn to live daily from the glorious reality of who we are in Him.

"If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God." — Colossians 3:1

Prayer:

Father, thank You for making me complete in Christ. Help me to see myself as You see me and to live daily in the reality of the new creation. Deliver me from every mindset rooted in the old life and establish me in the truth of my identity, authority, and inheritance in Christ. In Jesus' name, Amen.
