The Open Door of God's Grace
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me." — Revelation 3:20 (NKJV)
Every day presents countless opportunities, but none is greater than the opportunity to respond to Jesus Christ. In this verse, the Lord pictures Himself standing at the door and knocking. He is not forcing His way in. He lovingly calls, inviting people to fellowship with Him.
The amazing thing is that the One knocking is the Creator of heaven and earth. The King of kings is not too proud to seek sinners. Throughout Scripture, God is portrayed as the One who seeks the lost. He sought Adam in the garden after the fall (Genesis 3:9). He sought Israel through the prophets. He came seeking us through His Son.
Jesus said:
"For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost." — Luke 19:10 (NKJV)
Many people think they are searching for God, but the truth is that God has been pursuing them all along. Every conviction of sin, every stirring of the heart, every gospel message heard is another knock on the door.
The greatest evidence of God's love is the cross. We were separated from God by sin:
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." — Romans 3:23 (NKJV)
Yet God provided a way of salvation:
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." — Romans 5:8 (NKJV)
Jesus took our punishment upon Himself, died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day. Salvation is not earned by good works, religion, or church attendance. It is received by faith in Christ alone.
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God." — Ephesians 2:8 (NKJV)
If you know Christ as Savior, remember that He still desires daily fellowship with you. Spend time in His Word. Speak with Him in prayer. Listen for His voice. The Christian life is not merely believing facts about Jesus; it is walking with Him day by day.
If you have never trusted Christ, today is the day to open the door.
"Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation." — 2 Corinthians 6:2 (NKJV)
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your amazing grace and mercy. Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus Christ, to die for my sins and rise again. Help me to hear Your voice and walk closely with You today. Strengthen my faith, guide my steps, and make me a witness for Your glory. If there is anyone reading this who has never trusted Christ, may they come to Him today in repentance and faith. In Jesus' name, Amen.
