Mystical Gardens Tale
Two Hearts
Daniel had seen many strange things since he first stepped into one of the Mystical Gardens. He had seen flowers that bloomed from acts of kindness, and streams that reflected not a person's face, but their heart, but he had never seen a garden quite like this one.
The moment he arrived, he knew something was different. The garden sparkled with tiny golden lights drifting through the air like fireflies. Colorful ribbons hung from the branches of the great tree at its center. Long tables covered with fresh fruit, warm bread, and honey cakes stretched across the meadow.
People were laughing. Children ran through the grass. Music drifted through the air. Birds sang from their perch in the branches. It looked like a celebration.
Daniel walked toward the tree Kelljon, its silver leaves shimmered while pink and red hearts appeared among the branches.
"Welcome, Daniel. Today we celebrate."
"Celebrate what?" Daniel asked.
The Kelljon's leaves rustled softly. "Love."
Daniel noticed a young couple standing beneath her. The man looked nervous. The woman blinked rapidly, as if she was trying not to cry. Everyone gathered around them.
The Kelljon lowered one of her branches and placed two precious fruits into their hands. Daniel watched carefully. The fruits were connected by a single vine.
"What does that mean?" he asked.
"Many people believe love is finding someone who will make life easy." The leaves shifted. "But love is choosing someone who will walk beside you when life becomes difficult." The couple smiled at one another.
Kelljon continued. "A strong marriage is not built when everything goes right, it's built when two people decide to keep walking together when everything goes wrong."
The vine connecting the fruit began to glow. Then Kelljon showed Daniel a vision. He saw the couple years into the future. There were good days filled with laughter. There were difficult days filled with worry. There were moments when one was tired while the other remained strong. Moments when one felt discouraged and the other offered hope. Moments when one stumbled and the other reached out a hand. The vision faded.
"Two are better than one... For if they fall, one will lift up his companion." Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
The man gently squeezed the woman's hand. The woman smiled. Neither promised a perfect life. Neither promised there would never be tears. Instead, they promised they would face life together.
Kelljon's branches spread wide over them.
Golden heart shaped petals drifted from the canopy like a shower of blessings. The music grew louder. The guests cheered. Children danced.
Even the raven Earl swooped overhead, dropping flower petals instead of his usual shiny treasures. Daniel laughed. The entire garden seemed alive with joy.
"Love is not two people each walking a path alone, rather, love is two people walking together toward God."
The vine connecting the fruits dissolved into thousands of tiny lights and floated into the sky. The couple took a bite of their fruit. It was slightly bitter at first, then it became sweeter than honey. It reminded them that they would have difficult times, but they would never face those troubles alone.
As the celebration continued, Daniel sat beneath the tree and watched. For the first time that day, he understood why the garden was so joyful. They weren't celebrating just a wedding, they were celebrating a promise. A promise that when one fell, the other would help them rise. And together, they would keep walking toward the One who had brought them together in the first place.
Seed from the Garden
A strong marriage is not just a husband and wife holding onto each other. It is a husband and wife holding onto God together. When God is the third strand in the cord, the bond becomes stronger than either person could make alone.
"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if either one of them fall, one will lift the other one up. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up. If two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three is not quickly broken." Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
