John 10:1-15 – The Good Shepherd
Good day everyone.
Today, I would like to share a message from John 10:1-15, where Jesus describes Himself as the Good Shepherd.
In this passage, Jesus tells us that a shepherd knows his sheep, calls them by name, and leads them safely. The sheep recognize the shepherd's voice and follow him because they trust him. Jesus uses this picture to help us understand His relationship with us.
Jesus says, "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep." This is one of the most beautiful descriptions of God's love. Jesus is not a distant leader who does not care about His people. He knows each one of us personally. He knows our struggles, fears, weaknesses, and needs.
A shepherd protects his sheep from danger. In the same way, Jesus protects us spiritually and guides us through life's challenges. When we are confused, His Word gives direction. When we are afraid, His presence gives peace. When we feel weak, He gives us strength.
Jesus also says that His sheep know His voice. This challenges us to ask ourselves: Are we listening to the voice of Jesus? In a world full of distractions, opinions, and temptations, we need to spend time in prayer and reading God's Word so we can recognize His voice and follow His leading.
The greatest proof that Jesus is the Good Shepherd is that He gave His life for us on the cross. He willingly sacrificed Himself so that we could receive forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life. His love is not just spoken in words—it is demonstrated through His sacrifice.
Verse 10 tells us that Jesus came so that we may have life and have it abundantly. God desires more than mere existence for us; He wants us to experience His peace, joy, purpose, and presence every day.
