GOD'S WORD FOR THE DAY
“The Danger of Rejecting Wise Counsel”
2 Chronicles 10:8
“But he rejected the advice which the elders had given him, and consulted the young men who had grown up with him, who stood before him.”
This is the Word of God. When Rehoboam became king, he faced a crucial decision that would shape the future of the nation. The elders advised him to serve the people with kindness and humility, but he rejected their wisdom and chose the counsel that appealed to his pride. The result was a divided kingdom and a fractured nation.
Pride often makes us listen only to voices that agree with what we already want to do. God, however, frequently speaks through wise and godly counsel. A humble heart is willing to listen, learn, and consider the perspectives of others before making important decisions.
May the Lord give us teachable hearts that value godly wisdom and the humility to receive counsel that leads us in His ways. Amen.
