Just look at some of their fates: Peter was crucified upside down; Andrew was tied to a cross with thick ropes for three days before he died; John was a prisoner on a desolate island; Bartholomew was beaten and then beheaded; Thomas was murdered while he was preaching. Amy Carmichael said, “For John, the beloved disciple, was reserved the long martyrdom of life.”
These men literally walked with God. Although we were not present two thousand years ago, we have access to the same strength as the apostles.
