Here’s something I’ve come to understand in my few years on earth:
"You can be gifted and still be undisciplined".
A lot of people get this wrong. They hear “your gift will make room for you” and think that’s all it takes. Sit down, wait for the right helper, and boom — you’re blessed.
But you can have the talent and still lack the discipline, character, consistency, and resilience to stay there.
_Talent gets you in the room. Character keeps you there._
Your calling, your passion, your skill — it needs character to survive it, to grow it, and to attract the right people and opportunities.
That’s why you see people blow up for their talent, then fade out 2 years later. The name was known, but the character wasn’t built to carry it.
Look at it like this: God won’t put you where your character can’t hold you.
Because promotion without preparation destroys you faster than rejection ever could.
_God isn’t looking for the most talented. He’s looking for the most faithful._
So stop praying for open doors if you haven’t built the character to walk through them.
Having talent isn’t enough. You need the knowledge, discipline, and competence to nurture it to a stage where you can confidently say, “I’m growing. I’m getting somewhere.”
“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.” — 1 Corinthians 9:24
Talent alone won’t do it.
So ask yourself: *Do I have the character to keep what God is giving me?*
Let’s talk in the comments:
Where do you feel you’re strong in talent but weak in discipline? Be real.
