Remember the Source of Your Blessing

Scripture

Deuteronomy 8:18 (NKJV)
And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

The Giver Behind Every Good Thing

In this verse, Moses reminds Israel that when they enter the Promised Land and experience success, prosperity, and comfort, they must not forget who made it possible. God is the source of every blessing, the One who gives power to gain wealth and strength to prosper. The purpose of this blessing was not pride or personal gain, but to fulfill God’s covenant and display His faithfulness to generations.

For believers today, this verse is a powerful reminder that everything we have—our abilities, opportunities, and resources—comes from God. When we succeed, it is because of His grace. When we grow, it is because of His hand. Forgetting God in seasons of blessing leads to pride, but remembering Him keeps our hearts humble and thankful.

This verse teaches us that prosperity has a purpose—to glorify God and advance His kingdom.

Prayer

Lord God, thank You for being the source of every good thing in my life. Help me to remember You in times of blessing and to use all that You have given me for Your glory. Keep my heart humble, thankful, and focused on Your purposes. In Jesus name, Amen.
