Daily Bible Lesson
YOU MUST DESTROY GOD, BEFORE YOU CAN DESTROY HIS LAW.

God’s law cannot fall while God’s throne still stands—because His law is the foundation of His government, the transcript of His character, and the eternal standard of His kingdom.

A dangerous gospel is filling the world today:

Christ as Saviour—but not as Lord.
Grace without obedience.
Mercy without repentance.
Forgiveness without holiness.
Heaven without transformation.

But the Bible knows no such gospel.

God’s law is not a human rule to be revised by churches, softened by tradition, or erased by popular religion. It is the righteousness of God expressed in commandments.

“Justice and judgment are the habitation of Thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before Thy face.” — Psalm 89:14

GOD’S LAW STANDS BECAUSE GOD’S CHARACTER STANDS

God’s law is holy because God is holy.
God’s law is righteous because God is righteous.
God’s law is good because God is good.

To change the law, God Himself must change.
To destroy the commandments, God’s righteousness must be destroyed.
To overthrow the law, God’s throne must fall.

“Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.”
— Romans 7:12

“I am the LORD, I change not.” — Malachi 3:6

“The law of God is as sacred as Himself. It is a revelation of His will, a transcript of His character.”
PP. 52

A changeable law would mean a changeable God. But the Lawgiver is eternal; therefore His moral law stands eternal.

CALVARY PROVES THE LAW COULD NOT BE SET ASIDE

If God’s law could be abolished, Christ need not have died.
If sin could be excused, Calvary was unnecessary.
If obedience no longer mattered, the cross would be emptied of its meaning.

But sin is not merely weakness, culture, mistake, or emotion. Sin is rebellion against God’s law.

“Sin is the transgression of the law.” — 1 John 3:4
“The wages of sin is death.” — Romans 6:23
“While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8

The cross did not lower God’s standard. It revealed how terrible sin is, how holy the law is, and how immeasurable God’s love is.

Christ did not die to make sin safe.
He died to save sinners from sin.

JESUS DID NOT DESTROY THE LAW—HE MAGNIFIED IT

Jesus did not come to erase what Heaven wrote. He came to reveal the depth, purity, love, and spiritual meaning of God’s commandments.

“Think not that I am come to destroy the law… I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.” — Matthew 5:17
“Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law.” — Matthew 5:18
“He will magnify the law, and make it honourable.” — Isaiah 42:21

If heaven still stands, God’s law still stands. If earth still remains, not one commandment has fallen.

The same Jesus who forgives sinners also says:

“If ye love Me, keep My commandments.” — John 14:15

GRACE DOES NOT CANCEL OBEDIENCE—GRACE WRITES THE LAW IN THE HEART

False grace excuses rebellion.
True grace crucifies the old life.

False grace says, “Continue in sin.”
True grace says, “Go, and sin no more.”

“Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.” — Romans 3:31
“I will put My laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts.” — Hebrews 8:10
“Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid.” — Romans 6:1–2

“The condition of eternal life is now just what it always has been… perfect obedience to the law of God.” — Steps to Christ, p. 62

Grace pardons the guilty.
Grace cleanses the polluted.
Grace changes the rebel.
Grace writes God’s law where sin once ruled.

WHAT GOD WROTE, MAN CANNOT ERASE

God did not whisper His law as a suggestion.
He spoke it with His own voice.
He wrote it with His own finger.
He placed it beneath the mercy seat.

Mercy did not bury justice. Mercy met justice in Christ.

“Written with the finger of God.” — Exodus 31:18
“Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and Thy law is the truth.” — Psalm 119:142
“All His commandments are sure. They stand fast for ever and ever.” — Psalm 111:7–8

“The law of God, from its very nature, is unchangeable.” — Thoughts From the Mount of Blessing, p. 49

What God wrote, no church can erase.
What God blessed, no tradition can make common.
What God commanded, no human authority can cancel.

THE FINAL CRISIS WILL REVEAL WHO HONORS GOD’S AUTHORITY

In the last days, the issue will not be religious appearance only. It will be loyalty.

The world will choose convenience.
Tradition will challenge truth.
Human authority will rise against God’s command.
But God will have a people whose faith in Jesus produces obedience to His Word.

“Here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” — Revelation 14:12
“The dragon was wroth with the woman… which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” — Revelation 12:17

“The last great conflict between truth and error is but the final struggle of the long-standing controversy concerning the law of God.” — The Great Controversy, p. 582

The remnant do not choose between Jesus and obedience. They receive Jesus—and He brings them into obedience.

TRUE LOVE DOES NOT FIGHT GOD’S COMMANDMENTS

The law is not the enemy of love. The law defines love.

Love to God is seen in worship, reverence, loyalty, and obedience.
Love to man is seen in purity, honesty, faithfulness, and mercy.

“Love is the fulfilling of the law.” — Romans 13:10
“By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep His commandments.” — 1 John 5:2
“For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments: and His commandments are not grievous.” — 1 John 5:3

A love that rejects God’s law is not Bible love.
A faith that fights obedience is not saving faith.
A grace that protects sin is not the grace of Christ.

8. THE WHOLE DUTY OF MAN IS STILL TO FEAR GOD AND OBEY HIM

The final question is not, “What did tradition teach?”
It is not, “What did the majority follow?”
It is not, “What did religious leaders approve?”

The final question is:

What saith the Lord?

“Fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” — Ecclesiastes 12:13
“To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” — Isaiah 8:20

God’s Word must judge tradition.
God’s law must test worship.
God’s commandments must stand above human authority.

Beloved, do not accept a gospel that forgives sin but leaves the soul unchanged.
Do not follow a tradition that places man’s word above God’s command.
Do not believe a grace that fights the very law Christ died to uphold.

God’s throne still stands.
His character is still holy.
His law is still righteous.
His grace is still powerful.
His Spirit still writes obedience in the heart.
His final people will still keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.

“Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life.” — Revelation 22:14

You must destroy God before you can destroy His law—because His law is the foundation of His throne, the transcript of His character, and the eternal standard of His kingdom.

Heaven’s government still stands. God’s law still speaks. Christ’s grace still transforms. And the faithful will still obey.
