𝗣𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗔𝗟 𝗖𝗢𝗟𝗟𝗔𝗥

A Pastoral Collar is a special collar worn by Christian Clergy such Deacons, Priests and Bishops, as a symbol of spiritual leadership, service, and ministry responsibility.

𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿

The pastoral collar represents:

1. A life set apart for God's service
2. Spiritual authority and responsibility
3. Commitment to shepherding God's people
4. Humility and servant leadership

𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗜𝘁?
In the Worldwide Anglican Church:
- Deacons
- Priests
- Bishops

𝗧𝘆𝗽𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀

1. Full Collar
A white band that goes around the neck.

2. Tab Collar
A white insert visible at the front of the shirt.

3. Clerical Shirt with Collar Insert
Common in modern ministry attire.

𝗕𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝘁
While the Bible does not specifically mention a pastoral collar, it teaches the principle of spiritual leadership, oversight, and a life dedicated to God's service.

1. 1 Peter 5:2–3
"Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers... being examples to the flock."

2. 2 Timothy 2:21
"Those who cleanse themselves... will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master."

𝗜𝘀 𝗜𝘁 𝗕𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹?
The pastoral collar is not a biblical command or requirement. It is a Church tradition and symbolic practice developed over time to identify ordained ministers.

1. It is not found in Scripture as a requirement for Pastors or Church leaders.
2. It is acceptable as a symbol of Office and identification in many denominations.
3. What is truly biblical is the calling, character, and conduct of the servant of God—not the clothing.

The Bible places greater emphasis on inner holiness than outward appearance.

1 Samuel 16:7
"Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."

𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴

A pastoral collar is a visible sign that a person serves in ordained ministry, reminding both the leader and the Church of responsibility, holiness, and service to God.

- It is not essential for ministry, but it remains a respected symbol used by many Churches for identification and representation of ministerial Office.

May every servant of God wear not only the collar, but also the character of Christ.
