THE GOD OF BROKEN LINES
```TEXT: MATTHEW 1:1-17```
```KEY VERSE:``` "And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ" (MATTHEW 1:16).
Matthew begins his Gospel with a genealogy. At first glance, it looks like a list of names to skip. But look closer: this is the family line of Jesus. ItтАЩs filled with patriarchs, kings, exiles, and sinners. ThereтАЩs Abraham the friend of God, and David the king. But thereтАЩs also Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba, and Manasseh тАФ stories marked by scandal, failure, and pain. Yet God wove all of it into His redemptive plan.
Three truths from ChristтАЩs family tree: One, God uses imperfect people. The line of Jesus is not a hall of saints. ItтАЩs a record of grace. If God could work through their brokenness, He can work through yours. Two, God keeps His promises. For 14 + 14 + 14 generations, the Lord was moving history toward Bethlehem (verse 17). Delay is not denial. His Word never fails. Three, God writes new beginnings. The genealogy ends not with another тАЬbegat,тАЭ but with тАЬof whom was born Jesus.тАЭ The cycle of sin stopped at Christ. Calvary means your past doesnтАЩt define your future.
Do you feel disqualified by your family history, your mistakes, or your shame? Look at JesusтАЩ line again. God doesnтАЩt hide the broken branches тАФ He redeems them. If He could bring the Savior through that family, He can bring something beautiful through your life too. Grace has the final word.
тЬНЁЯП╜```THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:``` God doesnтАЩt call the qualified; He qualifies the called, and He uses broken lines to draw straight to Christ.
