A Nugget of Truth.
ONE CHERISHED SIN CAN RUIN ALL
Partial Obedience Is Still Rebellion
“For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” — James 2:10
One sin may look small to man—
but before God, it is rebellion against His authority.
A chain is broken by one weak link.
A glass is shattered by one crack.
A heart is separated by one cherished sin.
SIN IS NOT MEASURED ONLY BY SIZE—BUT BY WHOSE AUTHORITY IT REJECTS.
Adam ate one forbidden fruit—
and death entered the world.
Moses struck one rock in self-exaltation—
and missed Canaan.
Achan hid one garment—
and judgment came.
Judas sold Christ for thirty pieces of silver—
and lost his soul.
ONE CHERISHED SIN CAN UNSEAT CHRIST FROM THE THRONE OF THE HEART.
God’s law is not ten separate opinions.
It is one perfect expression of His holy character.
“Sin is the transgression of the law.”
— 1 John 3:4
“By the law is the knowledge of sin.”
— Romans 3:20
“The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul.” — Psalm 19:7
“Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.”
— Romans 7:12
The law is not God’s enemy.
The law is God’s mirror.
It does not create sin—
it exposes what the heart wants to hide.
THE LAW IS NOT A PRISON.
IT IS GOD’S HOLY FENCE AROUND LOVE.
It protects worship.
It protects truth.
It protects marriage.
It protects life.
It protects relationship.
But a generation that rejects God’s law will eventually normalize sin.
“The law of God is an expression of His very nature…” — Steps to Christ, pp. 60–61
To knowingly break one command is to say:
“Lord, You may rule here—
but not there.”
PARTIAL OBEDIENCE IS STILL PARTIAL REBELLION.
A religion that obeys only where it is convenient
is not surrender—
it is negotiation.
“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” — John 14:15
Love does not ask,
“Which commandment can I ignore?”
Love asks,
“LORD, WHAT WILT THOU HAVE ME TO DO?”
God does not ask for nine-tenths of the heart.
He asks for all.
So the real question is not:
“Do I keep many commandments?”
The real question is:
DOES CHRIST HAVE ALL MY HEART?
Am I obeying God—
or only obeying where it costs me nothing?
Am I surrendering sin—
or defending one hidden compromise?
Am I loving God’s law—
or hating the part that exposes me?
Lord, expose every hidden compromise. Help me not to defend one cherished sin while claiming full loyalty to You. Give me a heart that obeys because it loves.
