The Nativity of Saint John the Baptist
Today, the Church celebrates the birth of the one chosen to prepare the way for Jesus.
Saint John the Baptist was more than a prophet.
He was the voice crying out in the wilderness:
"Prepare the way of the Lord."
Even before birth, John recognized the presence of Christ, leaping in his mother's womb when Mary visited Elizabeth.
Throughout his life, John never sought glory for himself.
Instead, he pointed everyone to Jesus and declared:
"He must increase, but I must decrease." (John 3:30)
In a world that constantly tells us to promote ourselves, Saint John teaches us humility, courage, and the joy of leading others to Christ.
May we, like John, prepare the way for Jesus in our hearts and in the lives of those around us.
Saint John the Baptist, pray for us.

A life that points to Christ is never wasted.
