*Moses Accuses You...*
"Do not think that I shall accuse you to the Father; there is one who accuses you—Moses, in whom you trust" (John 5:45).
The Jews living during the time of the New Testament held their forefathers—such as Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Moses—in high esteem. In the Scriptures, we read of them arguing with the Lord Jesus Christ, asking, "Are You greater than our father Abraham?" (John 8:53) and citing "the Law of Moses."
Yet, it is surprising that those who desired to fulfill the requirements of the Law of Moses failed to believe a profound truth that Moses himself had spoken.
That truth is what Moses declared regarding the Lord Jesus: "The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear" (Deuteronomy 18:15)—a statement they could not accept.
Jesus concludes by saying that Moses himself will accuse before God those who refused to accept Him, despite Moses having spoken these very words.
Jesus asks them, "If you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?" (John 5).
To this day, the Jews do not accept the truthful statement: "He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him" (John 5:23).
Amen.
