“𝘛𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘣𝘳𝘶𝘪𝘴𝘦, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘺;
𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘸𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘫𝘰𝘺.”
Trials are not polite guests—they barge in uninvited. A diagnosis, a loss, a betrayal, a shattered plan. In these painful seasons, we often wonder if our struggles have any purpose at all. Whether we are facing disappointment, loss, sickness, or hardship, the question is not whether trials will come—but whether we will trust that God is at work through them.
🕮 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟖:𝟐𝟖 declares, “𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘦 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘎𝘰𝘥, 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘱𝘶𝘳𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘦.” Notice that Scripture does not say all things are good. Sin, suffering, and sorrow are painful realities. Yet God is so sovereign that He weaves even life's darkest threads into His perfect plan.
A master craftsman can take broken pieces of wood and create something beautiful. What looks useless on the workshop floor becomes part of a greater design. In the same way, God sees the finished picture while we often see only the scattered pieces.
Scripture repeatedly reveals God's purpose in trials. Joseph told his brothers, “𝘠𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘭 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵 𝘮𝘦; 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘪𝘵 𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥” (𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝟓𝟎:𝟐𝟎). James teaches that trials produce patience (𝐉𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝟏:𝟐-𝟑). Peter reminds us that faith is refined like gold in the fire (𝟏 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝟏:𝟕). God never wastes pain when He is shaping His people.
“𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘖𝘙𝘋 𝘪𝘴 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥, 𝘢 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘦” (𝐍𝐚𝐡𝐮𝐦 𝟏:𝟕). “𝘖𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘢𝘧𝘧𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘪𝘴 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢 𝘮𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵” (𝟐 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟒:𝟏𝟕). “𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘧𝘧𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘦𝘰𝘶𝘴: 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘖𝘙𝘋 𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘩 𝘩𝘪𝘮 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘢𝘭𝘭” (𝐏𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐦 𝟑𝟒:𝟏𝟗). Trials are not wasted—they are transformed. Don’t live like a potter’s clay resisting the wheel. God is shaping, stretching, and refining. What feels like breaking is often His remaking.
Jesus Christ is the greatest proof of 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟖:𝟐𝟖. The cross appeared to be history's darkest tragedy, yet it became God's greatest triumph. What looked like defeat became victory. What looked like death became life. If God could bring salvation through Calvary, He can bring purpose through every trial we face.
What hardship have you labeled as meaningless? What burden have you assumed God cannot use for good? You don't need Christ merely to survive your trials—you need Him because He is Lord over them. Trust the hand that guides the process, even when you cannot yet understand the purpose.
𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫: Heavenly Father, we thank You that no trial enters our lives outside Your sovereign care. Forgive us for doubting Your purpose when suffering comes. Help us trust that You are working all things together for good, and teach us to rest in Christ, who turns sorrow into victory. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
Remember, a dose of God’s Word a day will keep you going all day!
