Good morning to everyone. Grace and Peace be with you.
Today is Pine Village. The rain has stopped, the birds are out, the temperatures are marvelous, and the day before me is an exciting unknown. It is going to be a great day because little things are happening to change my mood. Such as, I have a cramp in my left thumb, I am running a little behind from what I had envisioned, I cannot decide if I am hot, cold, or both, and a list of trivial dumbness is flooding my brain. So why would I say it is going to be a great day … because my day is my choice.
Yep, you got it … I am on choice again. So hear me out. Remember in school when we were learning our math facts and our ABCs? The teacher gave us a sheet to read the problems off of: one plus one equals two, one plus two equals three, etc. Remember those days? Every day we would spend time reciting those sheets, and at least twice a week we would have a timed test to see how many we could remember in a set amount of time. Because of that teaching method, most of us remember how to do quick math in our heads. Repetition creates a memory.
The same concept is used with our children and our grandchildren when we want to make sure that they know that we love them. I tried to always impart on my kids that I had to be firm with them to make sure that they could survive on their own, but my love for them would never change…no matter how many times I got mad at them. My grandchildren, when they spend the night, and I started this when they were infants … I tell them that I love them very much and that nothing will ever change that, and to never forget, no matter what. Now that they are older, before bed, make them recite that back to me so that their dreams are covered in my love. Repetition builds a foundation.
Each night before I lay my head on my pillow, I give thanks for the day’s blessings and close with the Lord's prayer. Each morning before my feet hit the floor, I give thanks for my blessing of peaceful slumber, the house in which I live, the utilities in which I stay comfortable, and the day before me, then I close with the Lord’s prayer. Repetition formulates peace.
Today, I encourage you to choose to see only the Light. To choose to see the life in abundance. To see the blessings that He has provided. It's okay to get upset or frustrated, but don’t stay there. Find the beauty in whatever chaos trips you up. I was mad when the storm came through, and I saw roofing in my yard. I was frustrated that I was going to have to fix my roof again. The third time in about five years … ridiculous … a metal roof was supposed to be my saving grace. I was mad … until I checked my roof and saw that I had no new skylights or additional growths protruding from it, such as a tree. All the roofing in my yard was from the neighbor’s barn, and my roof only suffered cosmetic damage. My dismay quickly changed to Thank You, Jesus. I could have easily stayed in chaos land because I still would have had to fix my roof, but what would that have solved? Nothing. It would have only messed with my peace.
The beauty of today is among us. My adventure into Pine Village will be what I make it. I can be grumpy that the grass is still wet, or I can enjoy the fact that it is late June and not 100 degrees. I choose the latter. We are in charge of our choices. I choose peace. Will you join me in the land of beauty and peace while helping those in the chaos find theirs?
Be blessed.
**Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?” Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” – John 6:28-29
