But what happened next was a complete miracle! The cruel design of his enemies completely failed.
The sea refused to claim him!
Though the stones dragged him beneath the violent waves, the Lord miraculously preserved His servant, bringing him safely back to the shore!
For a time, Mamas withdrew deep into the quiet wilderness and the mountains, trusting the God who had just delivered him from a watery grave.
But the hatred of the Roman Empire never rested.
He was eventually hunted down, discovered, and dragged before them once again.

The frustrated authorities finally struck him through with a spear.
Mamas endured both the crushing depths of the sea and the fatal strike of the sword...
