THE COMPASSION OF THE CALL
```TEXT: MATTHEW 9:35-38```
```KEY VERSE:``` "But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd" (MATTHEW 9:36).
Matthew 9 is filled with miracles. Jesus healed a paralytic, called Matthew, healed a woman with the issue of blood, raised a girl from the dead, opened blind eyes, and cast out demons. Yet He didnβt stop with miracles. At the end of it all, He looked at the crowd and His heart broke. He saw more than bodies to heal. He saw souls without a shepherd. The Cross was already on His mind, because compassion always moves toward sacrifice.
Three truths from the compassion of Christ: One, Jesus sees people. βWhen he saw the multitudes.β He didnβt see a crowd to impress. He saw individuals who were fainting and scattered. You are not a number to Him. He sees your weariness. Two, Jesus feels with people. βHe was moved with compassion.β The word means He was stirred deep in His gut. Calvary started in His heart before it happened on the hill. Three, Jesus calls us into His compassion. βThe harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest.β He doesnβt just ask us to feel. He asks us to pray, then to go.
Who are you seeing this Monday? Hurting neighbors, broken coworkers, prodigals in your family? Donβt just notice them. Be moved. Pray for them. Speak to them. The same compassion that drove Jesus to the Cross now lives in you by His Spirit. The harvest is still plenteous. Will you answer the call?
βπ½```THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:``` Compassion is love in action β if your heart is moved, your feet must follow.
