A Nugget of Truth.
DUMB DOGS THAT CANNOT BARK: WHEN WATCHMEN REFUSE TO WARN.
Silent shepherds may please men for a moment, but faithful watchmen must lift the trumpet before souls perish unwarned.
“His watchmen are blind… they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.” — Isaiah 56:10
There is a silence that looks gentle—but Heaven calls it unfaithfulness.
There is a peace that sounds loving—but it leaves souls sleeping in sin.
There is a ministry that smiles, flatters, and avoids offense—while judgment is nearing and souls are unprepared.
God never placed watchmen on Zion’s walls to make sinners comfortable in danger. He did not call shepherds to entertain the flock, protect reputation, defend tradition, or preach smooth things while sin is destroying the soul.
He called them to cry aloud.
“Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew My people their transgression.”
— Isaiah 58:1
A faithful warning is not hatred.
It is mercy with a trumpet.
It is love refusing to let sinners sleep.
It is Heaven’s alarm before the door of mercy closes.
The cruelest preacher is not the one who warns with tears.
It is the one who sees danger and keeps silent.
“If thou dost not speak to warn the wicked… his blood will I require at thine hand.” — Ezekiel 33:8
This is solemn.
God will not only ask, “What did you preach?”
He will also ask, “What truth did you hide?”
Many today want a religion that soothes but does not sanctify.
Grace without repentance.
Love without holiness.
Prophecy without preparation.
Church without conversion.
Christ without the cross.
Heaven without surrender.
But God’s last message is not a lullaby.
It is a trumpet.
“If the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?”
— 1 Corinthians 14:8
A silent pulpit makes a sleeping church.
A smooth message makes an unready people.
An uncertain trumpet leaves souls unprepared for the battle.
“Peace and safety” is the cry from men who will never again lift up their voice like a trumpet to show God’s people their transgressions… These dumb dogs that would not bark are the ones who feel the just vengeance of an offended God. — 2TT 65
This warning is not only for ministers.
Parents are watchmen in the home.
Teachers are watchmen over the young.
Leaders are watchmen over the flock.
Believers are watchmen in the last days.
If God has given us light, we are responsible to let that light shine.
“Son of man, I have made thee a watchman… therefore hear the word at My mouth, and give them warning from Me.” — Ezekiel 3:17
The watchman’s message must be straight—but his spirit must be Christlike.
Truth must not be mixed with pride.
Reproof must not be spoken with cruelty.
Warning must come from a broken heart, a praying spirit, and a love that would rather suffer rejection than see souls lost.
“The greatest want of the world is the want of men—men who will not be bought or sold… men who will stand for the right though the heavens fall.”
— Education, p. 57
God does not need cowardly voices in a crisis hour.
He needs faithful watchmen who fear God more than men, love souls more than applause, and love truth more than popularity.
MAIN LESSONS
TRUE WATCHMEN WARN BECAUSE THEY LOVE
Love does not flatter souls into ruin. Love warns before destruction comes.
SILENCE IN A TIME OF DANGER IS BETRAYAL
When sin is destroying the soul, silence is not peace—it is unfaithfulness.
SMOOTH SERMONS CANNOT PREPARE A PEOPLE FOR THE JUDGMENT
Comfort without conviction produces sleeping professors, not sealed saints.
GOD REQUIRES A CLEAR TRUMPET SOUND
Sin must be called by its right name. Christ must be lifted up. Repentance must be urged. Holiness must be lived.
EVERY SOUL WITH LIGHT HAS A WATCHMAN’S DUTY
In the pulpit, in the home, in the school, in the church, and online—truth must not be buried.
WARNING MUST BE GIVEN WITH TEARS, NOT SELF-EXALTATION
The faithful watchman does not rebuke to destroy, but to rescue. He wounds only that Christ may heal.
THIS IS NOT THE HOUR TO SLEEP
The storm is nearing. The judgment is passing. Probation will close. Souls must be awakened now.
CLOSING MESSAGE
Let the sleeping watchmen slumber if they will—but let God’s faithful servants arise.
Let the trumpet sound.
Let the Word speak.
Let the Spirit of Prophecy warn.
Let sin be exposed.
Let Christ be exalted.
Let the careless be awakened.
Let the honest-hearted be gathered.
Let the church prepare to meet her Lord.
A flattering shepherd may gain applause, but a faithful watchman seeks souls for the kingdom.
Better to be wounded by truth and healed by Christ, than comforted by silence and lost unwarned.
