Let's talk about it.
WHO IS YOUR PRIMARY TEACHER OF THE SCRIPTURES?
When Jesus left this earth, He didn’t point His followers toward a hierarchy, a pastor, or a church institution to be their source of ultimate truth. Instead, He gave a deeply personal promise to every single believer:
"The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." — John 14:26
The Holy Spirit is designated as our direct, personal Divine Teacher. He is the one who opens our understanding, guides us into truth, and protects us from deception.
But there is a vital cooperative part we play in this relationship. In order for the Spirit of God to bring Christ's teachings to our remembrance in a time of crisis or peril, those truths must previously have been stored in the mind.
The Holy Spirit works with the material we give Him. If we rely solely on listening to a sermon once a week, we leave ourselves vulnerable. But when we personally open the Word, the Spirit meets us there.
As David said:
"Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee." — Psalm 119:11
When you hide the Word in your heart through personal study and memorisation, you are giving the Holy Spirit the ammunition He needs to defend you when your faith is tested.
Let the Holy Spirit be your teacher today. Open the Scriptures for yourself, store His words deep inside, and trust Him to bring them to light exactly when you need them most.
