𝐆𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐖𝐚𝐬 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝. 𝐒𝐨 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐒𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞?

If Hosea loved Gomer so deeply…
Why did she still go back to her old life?
Why leave a husband who kept pursuing her?
𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐚𝐥𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐫?

The truth is, Gomer’s story is 𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 because it 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 our 𝐨𝐰𝐧.

Sometimes, love is offered, yet old chains still feel familiar.
Sometimes, freedom is given, yet the past keeps calling our name.
Sometimes, we leave not because God’s love is lacking, but because 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐭.

𝐆𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐮𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫.

That is why salvation is more than being rescued once.
It is learning, every day, to remain with the One who rescued you.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐆𝐨𝐝 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮.
𝐈𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞.

Yet the most beautiful part of the story is not Gomer’s unfaithfulness.
It is Hosea’s faithfulness.

He went after her. He redeemed her. He brought her home.

𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐥.

Not that we have always remained faithful to God, but that God has remained faithful to us.

So if you find yourself tempted to return to what Jesus already rescued you from, remember.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐬.
𝐃𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐚 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐒𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬.
