THE CROSS OF CALVARY
🏼

TUESDAY 30TH JUNE, 2026

```TEXT: HEBREWS 12:1-3```
```KEY VERSE:``` "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God" (HEBREWS 12:2).

The writer of Hebrews pictures the Christian life as a race. We are surrounded by witnesses, but the focus is not the crowd. The focus is Christ. He started the race of faith and He will finish it. Between the start and the finish stands a cross. He endured it because of the joy beyond it β€” the joy of redeeming you, of bringing many sons to glory, of sitting down in victory.

Three truths from looking to the Cross: One, Jesus endured. β€œWho for the joy that was set before him endured the cross.” He didn’t escape the pain. He went through it. Calvary teaches us that endurance has a purpose. Your cross today is not punishment; it’s preparation. Two, Jesus despised the shame. The cross was humiliating, but He refused to be ruled by what people thought. He chose obedience over reputation. Three, Jesus finished. β€œAnd is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” He sat down because the work was done. Because He finished, you can run without fear of failing.

Are you weary in your race this Tuesday? Are weights slowing you down, sins tripping you, shame shouting at you? Lay them aside. Lift your eyes. Look to the Cross, then look to the throne. The same Jesus who endured for you now intercedes for you. Don’t quit. Consider Him, and you will not faint in your mind.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, Author and Finisher of my faith, I fix my eyes on You today. When I am tempted to give up, remind me that You endured the cross for my sake. Help me lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily besets me. Give me grace to run with patience the race set before me. Let the joy of Your finished work be my strength, in Your name I pray. Amen.

May the Lord strengthen your heart to run today. May His Spirit lift every weight, His blood silence every shame, and His finished work keep you steady until you see Him face to face, through Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen. 🏼
