We created church cultures where people can sit for years being comforted, encouraged, and cared for… but never activated, sent, confronted, equipped, or transformed into mature believers carrying spiritual authority. That is not the New Testament model. The early Church was apostolic. It was advancing, building, sending, planting, confronting darkness, raising leaders, casting out devils, and shaking regions through the power of the Holy Spirit. Pastors are biblical and desperately needed. But pastors were never meant to replace apostles, prophets, evangelists, and teachers. The Church was designed to function through the full fivefold ministry. And honestly, part of the reason apostles and prophets were pushed out is because they make religious systems uncomfortable. Apostolic ministry disrupts stagnation. Prophetic ministry confronts compromise. They challenge comfort and call the Church higher. But without them, the Church slowly drifts into maintenance instead of movement. The goal was never just gathering sheep.
