The Still Small Voice
"The value of consistent prayer is not that He will hear us, but that we will hear Him" - William McGill
1 Kings 19:12 – And after the earthquake a fire; but YHWH was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
The following story is a beautiful example of hearing from YHWH:

HEARING GOD
The young man had lost his job and didn't know which way to turn. So he went to see the old preacher.
Pacing about the preacher's study, the young man ranted about his problem. Finally he clenched his fist and shouted, "I've begged YHWH to say something to help me. Tell me, Preacher, why doesn't YHWH answer?"
The old preacher, who sat across the room, spoke something in reply – something so hushed it was indistinguishable. The young man stepped across the room. "What did you say?" he asked.
The preacher repeated himself, but again in a tone as soft as a whisper. So the young man moved closer until he was leaning on the preacher's chair. "Sorry," he said. "I still didn't hear you."
With their heads bent together, the old preacher spoke once more. "YHWH sometimes whispers," he said, "so we will move closer to hear Him."
This time the young man heard and he understood.
We all want YHWH's voice to thunder through the air with the answer to our problem. But YHWH's is the still, small voice…the gentle whisper.
Perhaps there's a reason. Nothing draws human focus quite like a whisper. YHWH's whisper means I must stop my ranting and move close to Him, until my head is bent together with His. And then, as I listen, I will find my answer. Better still, I find myself closer to YHWH.

The Bible tells us in Psalm 46:10, to "Be still, and know that I am YHWH:"
Sometimes the first prayer to pray - is a prayer for the strength to be still. It takes strength to not react based on our pain, hunger, or fear.
Even though radio signals fill the airwaves, you only hear the station that you are tuned-in to.
All you may be hearing in your life is static, noise that doesn't make sense. The problem may be that you're listening to the wrong "station" and YHWH is calling you to move to the right station to hear the right words and get the right direction - Station and place, closer to Him.
Move away from the noise,
Move away from your will.
Move closer to Him
And there learn to be still.
