REST FOR WEARY SOULS
```TEXT: MATTHEW 11:25-30```
```KEY VERSE:``` "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (MATTHEW 11:28).
John the Baptist was in prison. Cities that saw miracles still rejected Jesus. Yet in that moment of rejection, Jesus lifted His voice with an invitation. He thanked the Father for revealing truth to babes, not the wise. Then He turned to the weary: “Come unto me.” He didn’t say, “Go, try harder.” He said, “Come.” Calvary is God’s proof that He carried the heaviest load so we could drop ours.
Three truths about Christ’s rest: One, it’s for the weary. “All ye that labour and are heavy laden.” Are you exhausted from religion, guilt, expectations, or pretending to be strong? Jesus calls the tired, not the perfect. Two, it’s found in a Person, not a place. “Come unto me.” Rest is not a vacation. Rest is Jesus. At the Cross He cried, “It is finished,” so your striving could end. Three, it’s exchanged in surrender. “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me… and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” A yoke means partnership. You stop pulling alone. His yoke is easy because He’s gentle, and His burden is light because He carries the weight.
What are you dragging into July? Shame from last month, fear about next month, burdens no one sees? Bring them to Jesus today. Don’t carry into a new month what He already carried at Calvary. Learn of Him — gentle and lowly in heart — and you will find rest for your soul.
✍🏽```THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:``` You were not made to carry what Jesus died to carry for you.
