When we hear the story of the prodigal son, most of us immediately see ourselves in the younger brotherโ€”the one who wandered far, made mistakes, and eventually came home.

He never left the fatherโ€™s house.
He stayed. He worked. He obeyed.

Yet when his lost brother returned, his heart revealed something troubling.
He was close to the father, but distant from the fatherโ€™s heart.
He knew the rules, but not the joy.
He served in the house, but bitterness quietly lived within him.

It is possible to attend church every week and still be lost.
To know every sermon and still miss grace.
To stay near God physically while your heart drifts far from Him.
