INTRODUCTION
Acts 5:17–32 records the second major confrontation between the apostles and the Jewish religious leaders. As the gospel continued spreading throughout Jerusalem, opposition intensified. The high priest and the Sadducees became jealous of the apostles' influence and arrested them once again.
However, God intervened miraculously by sending an angel to release them from prison and command them to continue preaching. Rather than hiding or fleeing, the apostles immediately returned to the temple and resumed teaching. When brought before the Sanhedrin, they boldly declared one of the most important principles in Christian discipleship: "We ought to obey God rather than men."
For Christians, this passage teaches the importance of obedience to God, courage in the face of opposition, and unwavering commitment to proclaiming the truth of Jesus Christ.
