WALKING ON THE WAVES
```TEXT: MATTHEW 14:22-33```
```KEY VERSE:``` "But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him" (MATTHEW 14:30-31).
The disciples were in a boat, fighting a storm, when Jesus came walking on the water. Peter asked for an invitation: βBid me come.β Jesus said one word β βCome.β And Peter walked. He did the impossible until he looked at the wind. Fear sank him, but his cry reached Jesus. Immediately, the Lord caught him. The same hands that calmed the sea would soon be pierced at Calvary to calm our souls.
Three truths from the storm: One, Jesus comes in the storm. βIn the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them.β The darkest hour is often when He shows up. He didnβt watch from shore. He walked on what threatened them. Two, faith walks on His word. βCome.β Peter moved on a word, not on conditions. As long as his eyes were on Jesus, the sea held him. Three, grace catches the sinking. Peter failed, but he failed forward β into Jesusβ hand. βO thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?β The rebuke came after the rescue. Calvary means He saves first, then strengthens.
What wind has your eyes today? Bills, bad news, health reports, fear of the future? You may be ankle-deep or neck-deep, but the invitation is the same: βCome.β If youβre sinking, cry out. Heβs not far. The One who rules the waves rules your week. And when He gets in your boat, the wind ceases.
βπ½```THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:``` Doubt looks at the waves; faith looks at the One who walks on them.
