*DOES GOD HAVE MOOD SWINGS?*

Okay, let's understand something very important.

Does God have mood swings?

The answer is *No* .

Think about it. Human beings have mood swings. Someone can wake up happy, become angry because of traffic, and later become joyful because they received good news. Our emotions often change because our circumstances change.

But God is not like that.

The Bible says:

" *For I am the Lord, I do not change."* — Malachi 3:6

That means God's character is constant. He is not emotionally unstable.

Now, here's the question.

*Does your obedience make God start loving you?*

*No.*

God does not love you because you obey Him. He loves you because love is His nature.

The Bible doesn't say God has love. It says:

" *God is love.* " — 1 John 4:8

*Can God stop being love?*

Of course not.

So, His love for you is not based on your performance. It is based on who He is.

Now let me say something that many people struggle to understand.

*Whether you do good or whether you do bad* , God is still *pleased* with you because of His love and, *for Christians,* because of your *identity* in Christ; not because of your performance. Your good works do not make Him pleased with you, and your failures do not stop Him from loving you. He may not be pleased with what you do, but He is pleased with you. There is a difference between what you do and who you are. God can disapprove of your actions while still loving you and delighting in you as His child.

When Jesus was baptized, *before* He had performed any public miracles or ministry, the Father said:

" *This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased* ." — Matthew 3:17

Our acceptance before God is rooted in Christ.

Now, another question.

_Did Jesus die on the cross so that God would begin to love us?_

*No.*

Many people think that before the cross, God didn't love us, and then Jesus convinced the Father to love us.

That is not what the Bible teaches.

The Bible says:

" *For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son* ..." — John 3:16

Notice the order.

God loved first.

Then He gave His Son.

Jesus did not create God's love. Jesus revealed God's love.

Listen carefully.

The cross did *not* change God's heart toward us.

The cross *revealed* what had always been in God's heart.

Paul says:

" *But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."* — Romans 5:8

Notice those words: " *while we were still sinners."*

God didn't wait until we became good before He loved us.

He loved us first.

*Now, does God rejoice?*

*Absolutely!*

The Bible says:

" *The Lord your God... will rejoice over you with gladness... He will rejoice over you with singing."* — Zephaniah 3:17

God is not a miserable God waiting for people to disappoint Him.

He is full of joy.

Your obedience does not add to His joy, and your failure does not take away His loving nature. He is complete in Himself.

The Bible also teaches that nothing can separate those who are in Christ from God's love:

" *Neither death nor life... nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."* — Romans 8:38–39

So here is the truth.

God's love is constant.

God's character never changes.

God does not have mood swings.

He is always love.

He is always faithful.

He is always good.

And the cross of Christ did not make God love you—it *revealed* how deeply He had always loved you.
