THE CROSS OF CALVARY

SUNDAY 5TH JULY, 2026

KEY VERSE:``` "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed" (1 PETER 2:24).

Peter writes to believers who were suffering unjustly. He doesnтАЩt tell them to fight back or give up. He points them to the Cross. Jesus left us an example, but more than that, He carried our sin. He didnтАЩt just preach righteousness тАФ He bore the penalty so we could live it. The Cross is not only where we are forgiven; itтАЩs where we are freed.

Three truths from the Cross in 1 Peter 2: One, He carried our sins personally. тАЬWho his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree.тАЭ Your sin wasnтАЩt abstract to Jesus. It was heavy, real, and He carried it up Golgotha for you. Two, He died so we could live differently. тАЬThat we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness.тАЭ Calvary breaks sinтАЩs claim. You are not who you were. You donтАЩt have to obey the old master. Three, His wounds bring our healing. тАЬBy whose stripes ye were healed.тАЭ This is healing for the whole person тАФ soul first, then body, then mind. The Shepherd who suffered now restores every wandering sheep.

Are you going to church today with hidden wounds? Guilt from yesterday, shame that wonтАЩt leave, habits that keep returning? Come to the Cross this Sunday. He already bore it. You were like sheep going astray, but now you are returned to the Shepherd and Bishop of your soul (verse 25). DonтАЩt carry what He already carried. DonтАЩt nurse what He already nailed.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for bearing my sins in Your own body on the tree. I was dead in sin, but You died so I could live unto righteousness. I was wounded, but by Your stripes I am healed. I was lost, but now I have returned to You, my Shepherd. Help me to follow Your steps today. Let the power of Your Cross break sinтАЩs hold and heal every broken place, in Your name I pray. Amen.

May the Lord heal you by His wounds today. May the power of the Cross make you dead to sin and alive to righteousness. May you walk in freedom as a sheep kept by the Shepherd, through Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen. ЁЯП╝
