“Pray, People, Pray!”
Lamar Whittemore
It is not a time for limp wristed pansies,
Week kneed preachers that go with what men fancy.
We need some preachers and saints of God
Willing to travel where our forefathers trod.
Our desperate need in this sinful hour
Is for people to tap in to the Almighty’s power.
Our little prayers have produced nothing at all,
So on our knees we must desperately fall.
We must cry with fervor and affection
That God in mercy would grant another direction.
We must not simply pray for an emotional revival,
But for our children, grandchildren, our nations survival.
Do we believe God can do all that we ask,
That He is not week or unfit for the task?
Do we believe what God’s Word has to say,
And that He hears His children when they humbly pray?
Do we honestly believe God can heal our nation,
Grant mercy instead of judgment and devastation?
So it is with the prophet I cry,
“In wrath remember mercy” this very night.
“Revive us again that thy people may rejoice.”
Please, God in Heaven, hear your children’s voice.
And, Dear Lord, thank you for sending hard times our way.
For without them, it is so sad to say;
Most of your people would not pray.
