Image of God

Genesis 1:27 tells us that God created humanity in His own image—male and female. This means our origin is divine, not a product of evolution. As the Creator of the universe, God made us in His own likeness, giving us inherent dignity and worth. Though Adam and Eve were formed from dust, they were the direct creations of God, reflecting His image in both appearance and character. David recognized this in Psalm 139:14, praising God for how wonderfully and fearfully we are made.

Men are so intent upon excluding God from the sovereignty of the universe that they degrade man and defraud him of the dignity of his origin. He who set the starry worlds on high and tinted with delicate skill the flowers of the field, who filled the earth and the heavens with the wonders of His power, when He came to crown His glorious work, to place one in the midst to stand as ruler of the fair earth, did not fail to create a being worthy of the hand that gave him life.
