THE ETERNAL SON
"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist." (Colossians 1:15–17)
There are some truths that need to be stated plainly before they can be explained carefully. One of those truths is this: Jesus Christ is fully God. Not partly God. Not mostly God. Not God-like. Not a divine representative. Fully, completely, entirely God.
This truth has been attacked in every century since Jesus walked the earth.
In the early centuries, teachers rose up and said He was a created being, the greatest creation of God but still a creation.
In later centuries, others said He was a great moral teacher but not divine.
In our time, there are popular voices that call Him a wonderful example, a spiritual master, or an enlightened teacher, but who would never go so far as to say He is God.
The Scripture, however, is not confused on this point.
From the first chapter of Genesis to the last chapter of Revelation, from the Gospel of John to the letters of Paul, the evidence is overwhelming.
Jesus Christ is Almighty God revealed in human flesh.
