“God Is Making a New Way”
There are seasons in life when it feels as though we’re wandering through a wilderness. The path ahead is unclear, hope seems distant, and every step feels harder than the last. In those moments, it’s easy to believe that our story has reached a dead end.
But God speaks words of hope through Isaiah: “See, I am doing a new thing.”
Notice that God doesn’t merely promise to improve the old—He promises something new. He specializes in bringing life where everything appears lifeless. He creates roads where none exist and causes refreshing streams to flow through barren places.
Sometimes we miss what God is doing because we’re focused on what we’ve lost. Israel was looking back at God’s past miracles, but God was inviting them to look ahead to an even greater work. The same is true for us. While it’s good to remember God’s faithfulness, we must also remain open to the new ways He chooses to work today.
Your wilderness may be grief, loneliness, uncertainty, illness, financial struggle, or waiting for answers. Whatever it is, it is not beyond God’s power. He sees what you cannot. Even when you can’t yet perceive it, He is already preparing the path.
Faith often means trusting that the stream is flowing underground long before it breaks through the surface.
Today, ask God to help you recognize the “new thing” He is doing. It may begin as a small opportunity, an unexpected conversation, a quiet peace, or a door opening where you expected another wall. Don’t let yesterday’s disappointments blind you to tomorrow’s miracles.
God is still the God who makes a way where there seems to be no way.
What “wilderness” are you walking through today, and how might God be inviting you to trust that He is already making a way forward?
Heavenly Father, thank You for being the God of new beginnings. When I feel lost in the wilderness or surrounded by dry places, remind me that You are already at work. Open my eyes to see what You are doing, even when I cannot yet understand it. Give me faith to trust Your timing and courage to follow the path You are creating. Refresh my heart with Your living water, and help me walk confidently into the future You have prepared for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Remember, God loves you and so do I.
