Let's talk about it.
SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTISTS: MODERN JEWS?

Have you ever heard someone say:

‘Seventh-day Adventists are basically modern Jews.’

But is that really true?

Do Seventh-day Adventists believe that salvation comes through keeping the law?

No.

We believe salvation comes through Jesus Christ alone.

Do we offer animal sacrifices?

No.

Do we follow the Old Testament ceremonial system?

No.

Because we believe those pointed forward to Christ.

So why do people make the comparison?

Usually because Adventists keep the seventh-day Sabbath and take seriously what the Bible says about clean and unclean foods.

But keeping the Sabbath doesn’t make someone Jewish.

The Sabbath was established at Creation before there was a Jew.

‘God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it.’ (Genesis 2:3)

And Jesus Himself kept the Sabbath.

‘As His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day.’ (Luke 4:16)

The real question is:

If following something Jesus practiced makes you a Jew…

what does that make a Christian?

Because Christians are called to follow Christ.

Not because we’re trying to earn salvation.

Not because we think we’re better than anyone else.

But because we love Him.

And Jesus said:

‘If you love Me, keep My commandments.’ (John 14:15)

Keeping the Sabbath doesn’t make us modern Jews.
It makes us Christians trying to follow the example of Christ.
