Parenting with Love.

Parenting is one of the most important jobs you can have, but can also be the most challenging. From the first moment your little infant is placed in your arms, the responsibility of preparing them to be kind, productive, and loving adults is like a huge weight on your shoulders. As your child grows, so do the challenges. To be a good parent requires patience, wisdom, and lots of love and guidance from above. No matter how frustrated you are, always be kind to your children. The best way to teach your kids how to treat others is by how you treat them. Children respond much better to kindness than they do to harsh, angry words. When you constantly criticize, scream, or belittle them, it only makes matters worse. Everyone is entitled to make their own mistakes - even your children. First, allow them to make small decisions, and as they grow and learn to make good choices, you can trust them with bigger decisions. When they make a mistake . . . and they will - resist the urge to get angry and lash out with harsh words. Instead, hold your tongue. Take a moment to calm down and pray for wisdom before responding. In other words - always be like Jesus in your words and actions. The Bible says in Ephesians 6:4, “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” Raising children requires much time on your knees praying for Holy Spirit guidance, and your reward is found in God’s promise in Proverbs 22:6: “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Text: Titus 2:7, Psalm 103:13, 1 Peter 5:3, Psalm 127:3-5
