When I Let Go

My heart was lost, the way unclear;
My thoughts were consumed by fear.
Where could I turn? What could I do
But bring all my brokenness to You?

Through fear and doubt, on troubled roads,
I tried alone to bear my load.
My own ways led to pain and loss,
Too afraid to come before the cross.

Then at last I understood
You take away all that once stood
Between Your heart and mine each day,
As I placed it all into Your hands.

I gave up, surrendering all,
Waiting to hear Your loving call.
In the peace of letting go,
I found a freedom I’d never known.

Then at last I understood:
Love nailed my pain upon Your cross.
Loving You was never loss,
For mercy counted every cost.

By Your stripes I have been healed;
In You, my heart was fully revealed.
You knew exactly what to do
With every pain I handed You.
