THE CROSS OF CALVARY
🏼

SUNDAY 12TH JULY, 2026

```TEXT: COLOSSIANS 2:13-15```
```KEY VERSE:``` "Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross" (COLOSSIANS 2:14).

Paul reminds the Colossians what really happened at Calvary. There was a record against us — a handwritten list of every sin, every failure, every broken law. It stood as evidence, and the sentence was death. But Jesus took that list. He didn’t argue it, hide it, or edit it. He nailed it to His cross. When He died, our debt died with Him. When He rose, our record was gone.

Three truths from the nailed handwriting: One, the Cross cancelled our debt. “Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us.” Your past is not hanging over you — it’s hanging on His cross. Every accusation was silenced there. Two, the Cross disarmed the enemy. “And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly” (verse 15). Satan has no legal ground. He can roar, but he cannot reclaim what the blood has bought. Three, the Cross declared our victory. “Triumphing over them in it.” Calvary wasn’t defeat. It was a parade. Jesus marched out of the grave holding the keys, leading us in triumph.

Are you still living like the record is against you? Still paying for what Jesus already paid for? Still listening to the accuser when the Judge has spoken? Come to the Cross this Sunday. See the nails. See the handwriting. See it finished. You are not guilty anymore. You are not condemned anymore. You are free.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for nailing my sins to Your cross. Thank You for blotting out every charge that stood against me. Today I refuse to carry guilt You already carried. I refuse to fear an enemy You already disarmed. Let the victory of Calvary be my confidence. Help me to walk in freedom, not in shame, in Your name I pray. Amen.

May the Lord show you the empty record today. May the power of the Cross silence every accuser, break every chain, and fill your heart with the joy of full forgiveness, through Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen. 🏼
