Let's talk about it.
“He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.” — Revelation 22:11 (KJV)
This verse is not God encouraging sin. It is a solemn warning about the coming of Christ and the finality of eternity. The very next verse says:
“And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.” (Revelation 22:12, KJV)
The message is clear: a day is coming when a person's character and spiritual condition will be fixed forever. Today is the day of grace. Today sinners may repent. Today the lost may be saved. But when Christ returns, the opportunity to change will be over.
The wicked man who rejects Christ until the end will remain wicked. The holy man who walks with God will remain holy. Death and judgment seal the condition of every soul.
This should move us to examine ourselves. Many people laugh, mock, and enjoy the pleasures of sin, thinking there will always be another chance. Yet the Bible says:
“Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.” (Proverbs 27:1, KJV)
God is patient and merciful, but His patience will not last forever. The door of grace that stands open today will one day close, just as the door of Noah's ark was shut.
For the believer who endures, who remains obedient, and surrendered to Christ Jesus, this verse is also an encouragement. Those who have been made righteous through faith in Christ will dwell forever in holiness. Sin, temptation, sorrow, and death will be gone. God's people will be perfected in His presence.
Therefore, do not delay repentance. If you are living in sin, come to Christ now. If you are walking with God, continue faithfully. The final condition cannot be undone after judgment.
“Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near.” (Isaiah 55:6, KJV)
The question is not what condition you are in today, but what condition you will be in when you stand before Jesus Christ. Eternity fixes forever what time allows you to choose.
Do not get ready for Christ's return, BE READY!
