This poem was inspired by a local artist whose beautiful creations from driftwood and polished stones caught my attention at a market. As I looked at the driftwood, the Lord reminded me of my own heart before Christ and the transforming power of His grace. Just as discarded wood can become something beautiful in the hands of an artist, so our lives become a masterpiece in the hands of our Creator

Driftwood

Before You came into my life,
my heart was like driftwood,
caught among stones
that had become boulders,
blocking the flow of life.

Their weight held me down
until I felt as though I was drowning.

Then Your love entered my life.
Gently, yet powerfully,
You began to crush the stones
that had kept me from You.

As I surrendered to Your Spirit,
You removed every blockage.

Like driftwood released from the riverbed,
I began to rise to the surface,
where the light of Your love
broke through the darkness.

Patiently, You removed
every splinter of pain,
every wound,
every scar.

Until at last,
my heart was free,
floating in the current of Your grace,
fully healed,
and fully Yours.
