The Secret to How God’s Economy Works
In the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14-30, Jesus talks about the man who was given just one talent.
When his master returned, he discovered the man had taken the gift and hidden it.
When pressed for an explanation as to why, the man explained that he believed the master who gave him the gift was a “hard man,” one who took what he wanted when he wanted it.”
Of course, the master was no such man.
He couldn't understand how someone could be given a gift he didn't have to work for and then hide it from view, while at the same time, misrepresenting the one who gave him the gift.
In this parable, the “talents” literally represent money, but the principle is true for whatever God gives us.
Some will understand how gracious and extravagant the gift is and will take it and invest it into others.
This act of faithfulness, in turn, multiplies the gift.
So every time you give away what God has gifted you, it enlarges the gift you gave away in you.
Some people today have received the free gift of God's love and grace.
However, because they don't have a revelation of who has given them the gift, they don't know how to invest it in others.
In God's economy, “We freely receive and freely give.”
Those who live in fear of losing what they were freely given, don't know the giver of the gift.
They believe He is a harsh and angry man. Being only concerned about themselves, they don't invest the gift that is designed to be invested or given away.
Instead, they bury and hide their gifts where they don’t benefit anyone. The man who hid his free gift was called wicked and unfaithful.
There is a lost and hurting world desperate to know about God’s free gift called salvation.
To hide this gift or to misrepresent the One giving it as “hard” is truly a wicked thing.
Every gift God gives us is intended to be given away.

“For it is by grace that you have been saved, though faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the GIFT of God-not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9).
