Let's talk about it.
THE DIVINE PRECEPTS OF GOD.
"He declared unto you His covenant, which He commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and He wrote them upon two tables of stone." — Deuteronomy 4:13
Imagine the awesome scene at Mount Sinai! The mountain wrapped in smoke, the earth trembling beneath the feet of the people, flashes of lightning splitting the sky, and the mighty voice of God echoing across the wilderness. Heaven itself seemed to draw near as the Creator of the universe proclaimed His holy law.
These were not the words of men. These were not the inventions of a nation. These were not temporary regulations.
These were the divine precepts of the eternal God, written with His own finger upon tables of stone.
The Ten Commandments reveal the very character of God. They are founded upon love—love toward God and love toward our fellow human beings. The first four commandments teach us how to love and worship our Creator, while the last six teach us how to love and respect one another.
God's law is the foundation of His government, just as laws are the foundation of every earthly kingdom. Without law there is chaos. Without law there is injustice. Without law there is rebellion. But God's law brings order, righteousness, peace, and blessing.
Yet Satan has worked tirelessly throughout history to convince humanity that God's commandments are a burden. He seeks to portray obedience as bondage and rebellion as freedom.
But God's Word declares otherwise:
"This is the love of God, that we keep His commandments: and His commandments are not grievous." (1 John 5:3)
The commandments were never given to enslave humanity. They were given to protect us, guide us, and lead us into a life of harmony with our Creator.
The great controversy in these last days centers around obedience to God versus obedience to human tradition. The enemy knows that if he can lead people away from God's law, he can separate them from the blessings and protection that come from walking in God's will.
But God has not left us without guidance.
His law still stands.
What God spoke on Sinai remains true today.
The Bible declares:
"It is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail." (Luke 16:17)
As surely as the heavens remain above us and the earth beneath our feet, God's moral law remains unchanged.
Jesus Himself confirmed this truth.
Many claim that Christ abolished the law, yet Jesus plainly said:
"Think not that I am come to destroy the law... I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil." (Matthew 5:17)
Christ did not come to remove God's commandments. He came to magnify them, reveal their spiritual depth, and demonstrate perfect obedience. Every moment of His earthly life testified that God's law is holy, just, and good.
Jesus obeyed where humanity failed.
Jesus fulfilled the righteous requirements of the law.
Jesus died because we broke the law.
If the law could simply have been abolished, there would have been no need for Calvary. The cross itself reveals the sacredness and permanence of God's commandments.
Through His sacrifice, Christ not only offers forgiveness but also the power to obey.
Through the Holy Spirit, God writes His law upon our hearts. Obedience becomes not merely an outward action but an inward transformation. The believer learns to delight in God's will and walk in His ways.
As we approach the closing scenes of earth's history, God is calling for a people who stand firmly upon His Word despite opposition, deception, and compromise.
Revelation 14:12 describes them:
"Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus."
What a beautiful balance!
Faith in Jesus.
Obedience to God's commandments.
Complete dependence upon divine grace.
May we be among those who honor God's divine precepts, not merely with our lips, but with our lives. May His law be written upon our hearts, reflected in our character, and demonstrated through our love for Him.
The Divine Precepts still stand.
The Lawgiver still reigns.
The Savior still saves.
The Spirit still transforms.
