He Shoots! He Scores!
Scripture: 2 Peter 1:3–11 (KJV)
"According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness..." — 2 Peter 1:3 (KJV)
Thought Of The Day..
In every sporting event, the crowd erupts when the winning shot goes in. The player takes the shot, the ball finds its mark, and victory is secured. The scoreboard changes forever.
Spiritually, God never intended for His children to live defeated lives. Through Jesus Christ, He has already equipped us with everything we need to win. Peter reminds us that God's divine power has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness. We are not trying to earn victory—we are walking in the victory Christ has already secured.
However, victory doesn't happen by accident. Peter challenges believers to intentionally grow by adding to their faith virtue, knowledge, self-control, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love (2 Peter 1:5–7). These qualities become the spiritual "game plan" that keeps us effective and fruitful for the Kingdom of God.
Every temptation you resist is a shot for God's glory.
Every act of forgiveness is a shot for God's glory.
Every prayer you pray in faith is a shot for God's glory.
Every step of obedience is another shot for God's glory.
And when you trust God completely...
He Shoots! He Scores!
The enemy may guard the goal with fear, doubt, discouragement, and distraction, but none of those defenses can stop what God has already ordained for your life. His grace is greater than your weakness, His power is stronger than your opposition, and His promises never miss their target.
Peter concludes by saying that if these things abound in us, we will never fall, and an abundant entrance into God's everlasting Kingdom awaits us (vv. 10–11). That is the ultimate victory—the final score has already been settled through Jesus Christ.
Today, refuse to live like you've already lost. Walk by faith, stand on God's Word, and keep growing in Christ. Heaven is cheering you on, and God is faithful to complete what He has begun in you.
Prayer...
Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me everything I need to live a victorious life through Jesus Christ. Strengthen my faith and help me grow in godly character each day. When obstacles stand before me, remind me that Your power is greater than every challenge. Help me to live intentionally, love deeply, serve faithfully, and glorify You in all I do. Let my life reflect the victory of Christ, and may every step I take bring honor to Your name. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
Declaration...
Today I declare that I have been empowered by God's divine power. I will grow in faith, walk in obedience, and refuse to live in defeat. I am equipped for every good work, strengthened by God's Spirit, and established in His promises. Through Jesus Christ, I have the victory. My God never misses His mark. He shoots, He scores, and because I belong to Him, I share in His triumph. In Jesus' name, Amen.
