Before we examine whether baptism is required for salvation, we must first understand what baptism is according to the Bible. The word "baptism" comes from the Greek word "baptizÅ," which means to immerse, dip, or submerge. In the New Testament, baptism is the act of a believer being fully immersed in water as a public identification with Jesus Christ—His death, burial, and resurrection.
ððšðŠðð§ð¬ ð:ð (KJV): "ðð©ðŠð³ðŠð§ð°ð³ðŠ ðžðŠ ð¢ð³ðŠ ð£ð¶ð³ðªðŠð¥ ðžðªðµð© ð©ðªð® ð£ðº ð£ð¢ð±ðµðªðŽð® ðªð¯ðµð° ð¥ðŠð¢ðµð©: ðµð©ð¢ðµ ððªð¬ðŠ ð¢ðŽ ðð©ð³ðªðŽðµ ðžð¢ðŽ ð³ð¢ðªðŽðŠð¥ ð¶ð± ð§ð³ð°ð® ðµð©ðŠ ð¥ðŠð¢ð¥ ð£ðº ðµð©ðŠ ðšðð°ð³ðº ð°ð§ ðµð©ðŠ ðð¢ðµð©ðŠð³, ðŠð·ðŠð¯ ðŽð° ðžðŠ ð¢ððŽð° ðŽð©ð°ð¶ðð¥ ðžð¢ðð¬ ðªð¯ ð¯ðŠðžð¯ðŠðŽðŽ ð°ð§ ððªð§ðŠ."
Baptism is not a ritual that imparts grace or washes away sin. It is a symbolic act of obedience performed by those who have already repented and believed in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Salvation is by faith alone in Christ alone.
Baptism is the joyful obedience of one who is already saved.
It is the outward sign of the inward reality—not the means of obtaining it.
If you have believed on the Lord Jesus Christ—that He died for your sins and rose again—you are saved right now by His grace. Baptism is your next step of obedience, not your final step for salvation.

Have you ever heard someone teach that baptism saves you? How does this passage change your understanding? I'd love to hear your thoughts below.
But more than that: If you have never placed your faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, do not wait. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ today, and you shall be saved (ðððð¬ ðð:ðð). Then, as a believer, follow Him in baptism—not to be saved, but because you already are.

Let's help others rest in the finished work of Christ, not in human works.
