Good morning to everyone. Grace and Peace be with you.
Make a list, they said. It will help you stay organized, they said. You won't feel overwhelmed, they said. What they did not say is what happens when you one day, you finally find the notepad of lists that never got accomplished? Or you move something and find a stack of single lists that you laid there so you would not lose them…yet you forgot they were there.
For me, lists work in reverse order. As I complete a task, I write it down. At the end of the day, I look at my list and see if I accomplished everything I wanted to, or if I am pleased with what I was able to accomplish. I will on occasion make a master list of things that need to be done, post it right in front of my computer somewhere for reference and then as go about my daily stuff, write down what I did and mark it off the master. However, if I am being honest, I do not do the list thing very often. It is only when I know there are things that HAVE to be done and I have forgotten to do them that a list comes into play. Also, even the reverse list only happens if I want to ‘see’ what I have done during the day to make sure I was not being a sluggard.
There is nothing wrong with lists. They do come in handy for busy days, overwhelming days of multiple things going on at the same time, or just to try and stay on task for the day because it is one of those days. The thing with lists is that they have their place just as everything else does. They should not consume your mind so much that they have now created another obstacle to keep you from accomplishing the purpose of the list in the first place.
This week we have an appointment every day, we still have insurance dilemmas to deal with, we still have two vehicles out back that we need to get repaired and out of here, we have a guest room that needs to be fixed, plus there is my second book I need to republish and the competition I am in now where I am putting together a collection of short stories. All of which, in my head, needs to be done now.
When we get in these overwhelming situations, there is only one place we need to look and that is to Him for peace and guidance. He will provide the necessary references and blessings to make all things happen in their time. When things begin to fester or build up, we get a kink in our armor and the enemy nudges his way into our thoughts and begins his games of destruction. WE have the power to take those thoughts captive and throw them out.
Today, I encourage you to exercise your power in Him to put ‘him’ in his place. I encourage you to not look at today as ‘Monday’ but to look at it as His-day for His victories through you. Today I pray that Murphy’s Law is not a thing and only the blessings of the Father shine down on you. For every adverse situation, there is Lightful Blessing of peace and serenity.
Be blessed today.
