Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee" (Ezekiel 28:15). Lucifer was created blameless, standing in the garden of God, but iniquity was found in him, and he fell from heaven like a flash of lightning (Luke 10:18). The very suddenness of his fall suggests astonishment among the angelic host, for none saw it coming except God alone (Revelation 12:4). This calls us to continually re-examine what we think we know about eternity and the God whose ways are unsearchable (Romans 11:33; Isaiah 55:8-9). For if a perfect created being could fall, how much more should we walk in humility and reverence, trusting the One to whom all glory, honor, and power belong (Revelation 4:11; 1 Chronicles 29:11).
