Across the Channels of Time
Across the channels of time I look,
and I see the moments
when the light slipped from my grasp
and darkness had its way.
From the depths I cry,
remembering the pain I endured
and the pain I inflicted.
In shame I hid my face,
unable to confront
the things buried deep within,
the things unseen by others,
yet never hidden from You.
You saw every wound,
every tear,
every failure,
every wrong choice,
every heart I bruised,
and every desperate attempt
to hide from the consequences
of the life I had lived.
I could not bear
to look into Your face,
afraid I would find
the same disappointment
I had seen so many times
on the faces of those
who were meant to love me.
Then, when I least expected it,
in a moment when my guard was down,
You shone the light of Your love
into the deepest places of my soul.
Where I expected condemnation,
I found mercy.
Where I expected rejection,
I found acceptance.
Where I expected judgment,
I found a Father
waiting with open arms.
As I surrendered to Your love,
the shame began to lose its voice.
The guilt released its grip.
The memories remained,
but their sting
no longer dictated my steps
or shaped my identity.
Filled with Your light
and surrounded by Your love,
You brought forgiveness
to my broken soul.
You taught me how to love again,
how to live again,
how to become
the person You had always
called me to be.
The shame that once haunted me
has been cast away.
Now, as I walk ever deeper
into Your love,
I carry no regrets.
Not because my past disappeared,
but because Your grace
redeemed it.
In Your love,
I have found peace.
Across the channels of time I look,
and I see the moments
when the light slipped from my grasp
and darkness had its way.
