Sinking Ships.

Getting along with yourself can be one of your greatest challenges. When you listen to the opinions of everyone around you, it can fill you with self-doubt, anxiety, and distress. Well-meaning, opinionated friends or family can make comments that can send you instantly to the island of insecurity. And if you are not careful, subconsciously you’ll start changing your behavior in attempts to make them happy. Before you realize it, you’ve become an entirely different person, and guess what. You won’t be any happier trying to be someone others want you to be. Be yourself! Stop listening to what friends, family, and especially, strangers think of you. Instead of trying to please everyone else, strive to please Jesus! Live your life to please God, and if you make Him happy, that’s all that matters! You’re good! Think about this: “Ships don’t sink because of the water around them. Ships sink because of the water that gets in them.” Don’t let what’s happening around you get inside and weigh you down–just like a sinking ship. There will always be people who want to criticize, belittle, or change who you are–but don’t allow all that noise to get in the way of becoming who God wants you to be. Concentrate on making Jesus happy . . . and you’ll be happy too! Text: Psalm 139:14-16, Ephesians 2:10, Proverbs 16:3, Galatians 1:10
