BE READY: THE BRIDEGROOM COMETH
```TEXT: MATTHEW 25:1-13```
```KEY VERSE:``` "Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh" (MATTHEW 25:13).
Matthew 25 is the chapter of readiness. Jesus tells of ten virgins — five wise, five foolish. All were virgins, all had lamps, all were waiting for the Bridegroom. The difference was oil. The foolish took lamps but no oil. The wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. At midnight, a cry rang out, “Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.” The foolish begged for oil, but it was too late. The door was shut.
Three truths about Calvary readiness: One, lamps are not enough without oil. “Our lamps are gone out.” A lamp is profession, religion, outward Christianity. Oil is the Holy Spirit, the life of Christ within. Calvary not only forgives, it fills. Have you received the oil? Two, you cannot borrow readiness. “Go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.” No one can give you oil at midnight. Your mother’s prayer, your pastor’s anointing cannot save you at midnight. You must know Jesus yourself. Three, the door will be shut. “And the door was shut.” The most terrible words in Scripture. The same Jesus who said “Come unto me” will one day say “I know you not.” Today the door is open at Calvary. Tomorrow it will be shut forever.
What is your lamp saying today? Is there oil in your vessel? Or are you living on yesterday’s fire, Sunday religion, and borrowed grace? Midnight is coming. The cry will soon sound. Don’t be found with a lamp but no oil. Come to Calvary now — He still gives the oil of the Holy Ghost to those who ask.
✍🏽```THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:``` It’s not enough to have a lamp; you need oil. Calvary gives both.
