MEDITATIONS ON SPIRIT AND LIFE

SAVED BY MERCY

Titus 3:5-6

"He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior."

The apostle Paul reminds Titus that salvation is entirely the work of God. It rests neither on human merit nor on good works, but on divine mercy manifested in Jesus Christ and applied through the action of the Holy Spirit.

Salvation is not earned, it is received. God's grace does not simply forgive our sins; it transforms us from within.

The Holy Spirit has regenerated us by placing the life of God within us. Those who are in Christ are not only forgiven, but regenerated. This means that the life of God has been imparted to them by God, and they are no longer dead, but truly alive.

They enter a process of continuous transformation as they obediently submit to God's word under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit renews their minds and empowers them to live a life that pleases God.

Do not place your trust in your own spiritual abilities, but in God's grace.

Let the Holy Spirit renew your heart, mind, and character daily so that you may more fully reflect Jesus Christ.

Lord, thank you for the salvation you grant me through your mercy. Renew me daily through your Holy Spirit so that my life may reflect the beauty of Jesus Christ. Amen.
